The extensive and efficient bus, rail and metro system of the city that provide quality services to residents and tourists
The transport links in Barcelona are already some of the best in the world. The city has an extensive and efficient bus, rail and metro system that is the envy of many other European cities. The local government continue to invest into this network to aid the local economy and provide quality services to residents and tourists in Barcelona.
Following a recent announcement the Government of Catalonia has committed to a new project to extend the Llobregat-Anoia line of the Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat (FGC). This extension between Plaça Espanya and Gracia is estimated to cost €321 million and includes the addition of three new stations.
This continued investment in the transport links in Barcelona will also see the Plaça Espanya station undergo a remodelling. This move and extension of services will ensure that the densely populated area of Eixample receives a new and improved infrastructure to assist its residents. By increasing the direct access to the city centre, and removing the need to change metro lines with either the L1 or L3, it is estimated that more than 68,000 users each day will directly benefit. This equates to an incredible 19 million travellers.
The FGC line currently services approximately 23 million passengers a year and across the entire Barcelona-Valles network approximately 58 million users per year. This extensive set of transport links in Barcelona helps to service the local community and provide simple and efficient services for the millions of tourists who flock to the city each year.
Barcelona has always been a must for holidaymakers and professionals. As one of the world’s leading cultural centres, this diverse and dynamic city attracts both investment and attention on a huge scale. The Government and support services in the region are dedicated to providing a quality of life and infrastructure that is the benchmark for other major urban conurbations.
Visitors to this emblematic city will continue to benefit from the transport links in Barcelona long after this continued investment. When you come to Barcelona you’ll know exactly why this city is so amazing beyond the restaurants, bars, museums and beaches.
