How to spend your summer nights in Barcelona

Every year, the summer of Barcelona attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world. The months of June, July and August are the busiest of the year. During this time, all parts of the city are vibrant with activities and events.  During the day, the Mediterranean sunshine is being embraced by both locals and tourists. Nevertheless, the real fun begins after the sun goes down.

Whether you are in Barcelona for a vacation with your friends and family, or for work, the summer nights of Barcelona have many things to offer you. Let summer 2017 be your best summer ever and take the chance to create wonderful memories with your loved ones.

Here, we are presenting you our favorite places to have the best summer nights in Barcelona.

1. Enjoy an outdoor performance in Poble Espanyol

During the summer Poble Espanyol’s district is turned into a scene to host amazing performances. One of the summer arrangements you can’t afford to miss is Nits d’Estiu (summer nights) where different art forms and events are presented. This is a cultural experience that is well known throughout Barcelona.

Another spectacular event is Riu Estiu, the Summer Humor Festival of Barcelona. This will surely cheer you up! Some of the greatest comedians of Spain gathers in Placa Major on Wednesdays (20th and 27th of July; 3rd and 10th  of August).

In the summer months of July and August, there are musical activities. On Thursdays of July and Saturdays of August, you can listen to blues, while on Friday you can show off your karaoke skills by singing along to your favorite old songs from movies like Mamma Mia, Dirty Dancing, and Grease. Another festival to visit between June and September is Mecal Air, which is the International Festival of Short Films and Animation, where the best films from the latest edition of Mecal Pro is presented. Every session has it’s own theme for you to enjoy: horror, sex, comedy, romance etc.

2. Have a chill night in a Chiringuito

Barcelona’s chiringuitos are great places to head to after sunset. They’re a combination of the best of different worlds: live DJ tunes, culinary seafood and heavenly views of the Mediterranean Sea. Some of our favorites are El Xiringuito Escribà and Vai Moana on Bogatell Beach, Duna Xiringuito on Playa de El Prat, and the boat-shaped El Boo on beach Nova Mar Bella. You will want to visit them all and you should.

3. Feel the magic and colorful vibes from the fountain

The Magic Fountain of Montjuïc is not an average fountain. As one of Barcelona’s greatest attractions, Font Màgica, or the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc, offers a spectacle show during the summer nights from Thursday to Sunday between 9.30 pm – 11 pm. The establishment is located near Plaça d’Espanya, which attracts thousands of tourists every year. You will be impressed by the beautiful performance of water, lights and music.

Furthermore, there are many modernist buildings that are contributing to Barcelona’s title as one of the best cities to spend your summer nights. For example, in Palau GüellCasa Amatller, Bellesguard Tower, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, where you can enjoy shows, concerts, dinners, and drinks. In the city parks, you will also find nightly concerts. One you can’t afford to miss is Liceu, the opera house that screens performances outdoor in the Arc de Triomf.
