One of the most popular Barcelona beaches is the 500 meter long beach with the name is ‘Mar Bella’, eastward on the city’s picturesque seafront. The beach belongs to the Sant Martí neighborhood and was originally develop in preparation for the 1992 Olympics as a setting for water sports. In keeping with the spirit of its origins, the beach remains a fantastic place to get active. It’s known, in fact, as one of the sportiest beaches in Barcelona. At the top of the beach you will find a basketball hoop, nets for beach volleyball, ping-pong table and half-pipe for skaters. These facilities offer a great way to get fit while also taking in the precious rays of Mediterranean sun.

At the southwestern tip of the beach you will find the Base Nàutica Municipal de la Mar Bella, the point of embarkation for sailing trips, kayak excursions and catamaran lines along the city’s coastline. These excursions must be reserved in advance by calling the nautical base or reserving online. The base is also where groups can reserve volleyball nets for the day.
