Mercat de Mercats is an annual outdoor food event held in Barcelona‘ Ciutat Vella, on Avinguda de la Catedral. In 2013 it’s taking place on 18th – 20th of October, open on Friday at 12:00 – 20:00 and on Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 – 20:00. The tradition is a rather fresh one, as the event was founded in 2010 and this will be only the fourth time the delicious flavours of Catalonia and parts of the Mediterranean unite.

This will be the place where every foodie wants to be, as Barcelona is known everywhere for its quality food and great markets, and this is where the fresh seafood and the best local culinary art meet. The weekend features over 50 local food producers, 20 wineries and 12 restaurants. Previous years have seen not only the Catalans presenting their best, but also the French and Italian chefs and producers have come to Barcelona to stir the soup and increase the recognizability of Market of Markets.
Famous local chefs will be helping people cook their own food in cooking workshops, which you can attend for free! The most notable teachers at the event have been Michelin star earning chefs Carles Gaig and Mey Hofmann.
There is no entrance fee to enter the market area, but the meal prices range from 10€ to 40€. Most drinks go from 1€ to 2,50€. When buying tapas or drinks, you need to purchase separate tickets to buy them. Check the ticket list below before your purchase, you could get a discount when buying more than one item!
