Summer in Barcelona would not be the same without the annual San Miguel Mas i Mas Festival. It is a 14th edition of this beautiful and interesting cultural festival which is held across five different venues including the Palau de la Música and El Born Centre Cultural.
San Miguel Mas i Mas Festival
Taking place during one of the hottest months of the year the San Miguel Mas i Mas Festival is one of the most refreshing cultural events of the year. With an eclectic mix of music and performances this wonderful event starts on July 26 and finishes on September 4. Most of the events and concerts start at 8.00pm and finish just after midnight leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the rest of Barcelona and it’s many attractions.
The San Miguel Mas i Mas Festival is highly appreciated and very popular in Spain. The festival also attracts many international visitors that comes specifically for the festival and Catalan culture. The festival was created in 2003 with the idea of providing first class cultural activity. With the help of San Miguel beer the Mas i Mas festival has become a mainstay on Barcelona’s summer nightlife scene.
The festival brings together a large variety of different performances held in small venues such as Jamboree and Tarantos, close to Plaça Reial. The festivals headline acts take place at the Palau de la Música Catalana just off Via Laietana in El Born where a total of eight concerts will be held. Throughout the six week long extravaganza you can sample a cross section of different types of music including classical, flamenco, jazz and funk. For the hipsters there is plenty of R&B and techno to dance the night away to at Moog just off La Rambla towards the Passeig de Colom.
The San Miguel Mas i Mas Festival showcases over different 100 concerts with an eclectic mix of different artists. Some of the performances set to dazzle us this year include Maria del mar Bonet, Martirio, Lee Konitz, Ester Rada, Manolo Salúcar, Octave One, Pol Vaquero and Lole Montoya.
