Macbeth Verdi opera in Barcelona is a twist on a Shakespeare classic by Giuseppe Verdi. Originally written for the Teatro della Pergola in Florence, it was Verdi’s tenth opera, but the first Shakespeare play he had adapted for operatic stage.
Macbeth Verdi shares enough significant parallels with its original to ensure Shakespeare’s play is carefully preserved, however there are sufficient dissimilarities to make the play unique. Verdi was one of Shakespeare’s biggest admirers calling the play “one of mankind’s greatest creations.”
