The Grec Festival has been traveling all around the world for the past 5 years, but now returns to its roots, Grec Festival de Barcelona. The purpose of this event is for the audience to be reminded that we live in a connected world, where what we do will affect us, our neighbors, and someone miles away. This planet is an extremely unique place, and the different arts can show different perspectives to people. So bring your curiosity, and come check out Grec Festival de Barcelona.

Netherlands Dans Theatre opens for the Grec this year with three choreographies from this year’s work. Their performance will happen at Teatre Grec Wednesday, June 29th, at 10:00 pm, and Thursday, June 30th, at 10:00 pm, with a duration of 110 minutes. The price for these tickets ranges from 22-30 EU.

You could also have a chance to listen to great music at Plaça de Margarida Xirgu. A lineup of upcoming artists you do not want to miss will be there! Artistic identity of Pau Vidal is talented in many different aspects of the music industry. Tarquim, his new music project, is a creation that will be available to see here along the square. Come out on Thursday, June 30th at 7:30 pm. The young and talented siblings Conxita and Fermí Herrero, known as Tronco will be making an appearance. A blend of musical genres you do not want to miss! Be there Friday, July 1st at 7:30 pm for an out-of-this-world performance. Ariadna Rulló will be there to combine her favorite genres; folk, and electronica. She does by the stage name, Joana Dark. Catch her performance Saturday, July 2nd at 7:30 pm. Even better news, admission is free!

On July 2nd and July 3rd, a Saturday and Sunday at 8:30 pm both days, you have the chance to see a playwright by Henrik Ibsen, An Enemy of the People, brought to the stage by Schaubühne Berlin and directed by Thomas Ostermeier (in German with subtitles in Catalan). This will take place at Teatre Lliure Montjuïc for a duration of 150 minutes, and for only 30 EU.

The dancer and choreographer Lali Ayguadé will be performing Runa with Lisard Tranis. Runa dwells on the matter of time in life, and what is left. An amazing performance to highlight how important this life is. You can see this 50-minute performance for 22 EU at Mercat de les Flors. Dates and showtimes include Sunday, July 3rd at 9:00 pm. Monday, July 4th at 9:00 pm. Tuesday, July 5th at 9:00 pm.

The piece El Burlador de Sevilla directed by Xavier Albertí will be shown Sunday, July 3rd, and Monday, July 4th at 10:00 pm. This piece will be shown at Teatre Grec for a duration of 105 minutes and performed in Spanish. Tickets will be sold from 18 to 25 EU.

To catch a glimpse of dance and theatre combined, you can’t miss Alan Lucien Øyen’s Story, Story, Die performed by seven dancers. A piece that entangles love and lies. On Tuesday, July 5th, and Wednesday, July 6th you have the chance to experience this piece at the 8:00 pm showing on both days. At Mercat de les Flors, the English piece with Catalan subtitles will last 90 minutes, and tickets are 25 EU each.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the release of his first album, Roger Mas comes together with the band to relive those amazing memories at Teatre Grec. Don’t miss this talent and celebration on Tuesday, July 7th at 10:00 pm.

The members of the theatre group Antigua I Barbuda will bring to life The Great Gorilla to the streets of the Plaça de Margarida square. This talented group has brought many different things to the city, from a Ferris wheel made of toilets all the way to serving glasses of wine mechanically. Over the course of the days that the Gorilla is shown, the audience will see how the members learn to move him swiftly as well as listen to the different sounds that emerge from the different movements. El Gran Gorilla (The Great Gorilla) can be seen Wednesday to Friday, July 6th-8th at 6:00 pm and Saturday, July 9th at 7:30 pm. For a duration of 45 minutes and in Catalan, the admission to this is free of charge!

A chance to see Cris Blanco’s Grandissima Illusione at Plaça Catalunya is a possibility now. Thursday to Saturday, July 7th to July 9th at 7:30 pm every day you can experience this opportunity. The play will be a duration of 70 minutes and given in Spanish and tickets are 18 EU.

No parking is available at Plaça de Margarida Xirgu this year if you are transporting yourself to the event. Near the Museu D’Arquelogia de Catalunya, there will be free parking (refer to the parking map on the website). Museu Nacional D’Art de Catalunya provides free parking (refer to the parking map on the website). public bus transportation will be available as well.
