July sees the return of the annual Festival de Cap Roig. This fantastic fiesta sees a whole host of world class performances strut their stuff in Costa Brava near Barcelona.
Festival de Cap Roig
Located in Costa Brava, approximately two hours north from Barcelona, this series of outdoor concerts is held in some emblematic botanical gardens with stunning views. The auditorium of the “Jardines de Cap Roig” sets the tone for this fantastic fiesta and is within reach of Palafrugell. This town has some lovely beaches and fishing villages nearby alongside its many restaurants, so there’s plenty to do within easy reach of the Festival de Cap Roig.
The festival which runs from July 8 to August 17 will showcase some icons of the music industry including Status Quo, Alejandro Sanz, Richard Ashcroft, The Corrs, Santana and Rod Stewart. Each artist headlines their own show and with the programme spread over a six week period there’s plenty of opportunities to head to this wonderful festival.
Festival de Cap Roig and its many attractions also includes an exceptional Michelin star restaurant. Via Veneto has received this prestigious award for the last forty years. Featuring an incredible terrace and an extensive menu, diners can sip the finest wines from the restaurants cellar before and after the festivals concerts. If you fancy a lighter meal you can enjoy tapas and cocktails as well. The restaurant alone is worth the trip to this beautiful area.
The open-air stage has a capacity of over 2,000 people and set in the spectacular gardens, which spread over 17 hectares, the Festival de Cap Roig is not to be missed. The gardens are home to over a thousand plant species and renowned sculptures from artists all the world. The venue and event lineup are equally spectacular.
Prices for the Festival de Cap Roig vary from €20 to €200 depending on the artists and ticket category. Although the festival is a few hours from Barcelona, the event is easily accessible and with something for everyone its an experience you’ll never forget.
