Cinema Lliure a la Platja
This year is the fifth edition of this annual festival. Launched in 2011, Cinema Lliure a la Platja is a free for all event held on the San Sebastian (San Sebastià) beach close to the famous la Barceloneta. This beach is one of the oldest and most established stretches in Barcelona. It is more than one kilometre (km) long. Popular with locals and tourists this beach is perfect due to is easily accessible location and proximity to the city centre. Here crowds can enjoy quality productions that reflect the spirit of this urban festival, under the stars, during this summer season.
Movies are shown every Thursday and Sunday and start at 21.00 throughout Cinema Lliure a la Platja. The event is held close to the iconic Club-Natació Atlètic-Barceloneta. This huge centre cannot be missed and is a mecca for health and fitness enthusiasts from across Catalonia.
If you fancy a trip further along the cost the event organisers have also scheduled additional events in El Prat, Badalona and Mataró. This year in Barcelona, Cinema Lliure a la Platja will showcase some of the best local and international movies. English subtitles will be provided for every film and a series of short films will also be shown encapsulating the events contemporary style. This years twelve films include “The Lobster“, “Victoria” and “The Salvation“. Each of the titles showcased has a must see quality and with music and a children’s programme available for families this years event is set to be better than ever.
