La Filmoteca de Catalunya

La Filmoteca de Catalunya, opened in 1981, focuses on conserving and showing films and other visual works such as documents related to the cinema, in particular Catalan cinema. It is known as the centre for knowledge about Catalan cinema.

It makes audiovisual culture available to everyone through exhibitions, talks and other documents. They collaborate with film masters, festivals and competitions who have knowledge of cinematography. Their aim is to bring the public to the cinema to allow them to interact in a cultural place.

The Filmoteca is constantly developing its objectives which are the conservation of films and documents on cinema, restoring films of historical and cultural importance, digitalising their records and making this information accessible to the public.
