The clear mission of the Biblioteca de Catalunya (Library of Catalonia) is to gather and conserve the books of Catalonia, to watch over book heritage, and to maintain its own role as the center of consultation and scientific research. The library strives to promote the intellectual growth of the Catalan people and to provide tools for easy learning for everyone. The library is located near las Ramblas which is near many of the tourist areas.
