Urban Nature
The Barcelona Center for Contemporary Culture presents a new interactive installation; a joint project with the Rimini Protokoll theater company. In addition, the production, available until September 19. For instance, it introduces the general public to walk on the protagonist of various scenarios and challenges facing big cities. Indeed, all of this is thanks to a magical combination of theatrical performance and exhibition.
Certainly it’s just like you were in a film! Urban Nature further offers you the chance to walk onto film sets, pass through a series of fictional places and put yourself in the shoes of one of the seven characters in the work: first, a professor of economic and environmental history ; second, an entrepreneur in new economies linked to technology and cities; third, a young woman who used to live on the streets; forth, a girl from the Raval district; fifth, a worker in the underground economy; sixth, a prison guard; and lastly, a financial adviser. However, those attending are also the audience and observe the other participants, in group visits.
Most importantly, this initiative directions itself to reopen the debate about: the management of natural resources, the right to decent housing, the expansion of new economies and employment models, inequalities among neighbors and the younger generation’s view on the future of cities. In addition, the show is in: Catalan, Spanish, English and Arabic; with subtitles and voice-over translated into the first three.
