Loop Fair & Festival
The Loop Fair & Festival is a platform further dedicated to the study and the promotion of the moving image. Created in 2003, Loop is a platform that focuses on the possibilities and challenges presented by video art; one of the key artistic movements of modern times. Subsequently, each year, Loop hosts professionals and the public for a gathering. For instance, they can explore the latest technological and other developments in the moving image sector; and further see the work of new and established creatives who use video as their main tool.
Loop Barcelona counts with three main sections:
- Loop Fair (November 17-19): selection of films and videos by contemporary artists presented by international galleries. Museu d’Història de Catalunya, Plaça de Pau Vila, 3, 08039 Barcelona. In addition, due to the current health situation, the LOOP 2020 Fair will host 28 galleries from 17 countries on the online platform of its website (from November 17 to 26).
- Loop Festival (from 10 to 22 November): exhibitions, screenings and live performances throughout Barcelona; further related to the creation of the moving image. In several spaces.
- Loop Studies: for instance talks, workshops and professional meetings to promote the recognition of video and film.
On the other hand, it develops projects with an international community of artists, curators, gallery owners, collectors and heads of institutions; with the aim of exploring the possibilities for video and film in the discourse of contemporary art.
In the same vein, the activities, paid and free, are spread throughout the city; in museums, foundations, temporary exhibition centers, libraries and other spaces.
