La Bohème Opera
La Bohème Opera is one of the most widely performed operas throughout the world and one of the universal icons of opera. This amazing theatrical production transports the action to approximately 1930, 100 years after the original version. In keeping with this transition the decor remains traditional and in keeping with style of this era.
The world premiere performance of La Bohème Opera was on February 1st, 1896 in Turin at the Teatro Regio. The production initially received a high level of critic but as the audience became more familiar with the beauty and art of opera it soon became extremely popular throughout Italy.
In the years that followed many other productions took place reflecting the popularity of this wonderful production. In June 1896 the first La Bohème Opera production outside Italy took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina and in the years after many other productions followed. The first performance in Barcelona took place in April 1898 at the Liceu and returns in 2016 after it’s last performance in March 2012.
The story itself focuses on love, youth and tragedy in Paris. The two main characters Mimì and Rodolfo fall in love and live happily together until they become separated as Rodolfo becomes suspicious of Mimì and her friendly personality. The story continues as they attempt to reconcile their relationship but ends in catastrophe for the unfortunate couple.
In keeping with modern culture and trends La Bohème Opera and its core values have been maintained but given a modern twist to entice and enhance its audience. This four act production runs for just under two hours with a half an hour interlude.
