“Cubism and War”, temporary exhibition at the Picasso Museum!
The Cubism and War exhibition at the Pablo Picasso museum is a fascinating upcoming exhibition at the Picasso museum. It will display works from Pablo Picasso, Juan Gris and Diego Rivera alike. The emphasis of the exhibition will be placed on the non-fighting artists, who expressed their attitudes towards the political corruption through their art. The exhibition will present a selection of around 80 works produced during the First World War.
The Cubism and War exhibition will display the evolution of cubism and how it was heavily influenced by pain, fear and mortality experienced during the time. Painters who sought artistic asylum in Paris during the War gained worldwide fame allowing them to expose the atrocities of the era. Today however, the controversial and thought-provoking artwork is not only a form of protest, but also a way of documenting the experiences of the time.
The Picasso museum includes 4,251 works by Picasso but also offers temporary exhibition of the other famous artists. The museum opened in 1963, Barcelona is symbolic for Picasso since he spent many years of his childhood years here. Much of his work reveals his profound relationship with the city, one that shaped his childhood. The museum is well-located near to the Gothic Quarter of the city and easily accessed by the metro.
