Famous rock band Coldplay will be making a stop in Barcelona to perform two nights in a row! Amazing news, isn’t it? The concerts will be taking place on Thursday, May 26th and Friday, May 27th at the Estadi Olímpic Lluíc Companys.
Coldplay is a British pop rock band, formed in London in 1996 by singer, songwriter and interpreter Chris Martin and guitarist Jon Buckland. Bass-player Starfish then joined the group, along with drummer Will Champion. It’s only in 1998 that the group decided on the name “Coldplay”. The band is currently involved in an impressive amount of charities, and from the very beginning has been passionate about fair trade, alongside Oxfam International and Amnesty International.
Among the long list of musical titles from all the albums that Coldplay produced, their top 5 songs are:
- The Scientist: This ballad accompanied with a piano melody is, for sure, the song most appreciated by all fans of Coldplay. It’s the second song on the album « A Rush of Blood to the Head ». This song was inspired by the album « All Things Must Pass » by George Harrisson. It was with this song that the group concluded the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games of London 2012.
- Viva la Vida: Second song on the album « Viva la Vida and All His friends » released in May 2008. It was the top commercial success of the British group. The song also received a prestigious Grammy Award.
- Clocks: This song is part of the album « A Rush of Blood to the Head ». Inspired by the English band Muse, the melody was created by Chris Martin while he was on his way to a studio in Liverpool.
- Paradise: Part of the fifth album « Mylo Xyloto », the song Paradis was in competition with « Charlie Brown » to be in the second place on the album (a commercial strategy). But, finally it’s Paradise who won!
- Magic: Magic is the fist song of the album « Ghost Stories ». The psychedelic and melancholic style was inspired by the lead singer´s breakup with Gwyneth Paltrow and is commonly regarded the gay anthem.
And there you have it, the songs that made Coldplay an international success!
