This October there is no better way to spend your week than at the Sitges Film Festival. Sitges Film Festival is happening this year on October 6th and will run through October 16th. This beach festival can be found on the beautiful beaches of Sitges, a 30-minute train from Barcelona. This film festival screens the best genre of films and allows for an amazing opportunity for a meet and greet with the talented filmmakers that will be present. If you are a fan of watching unique films, learning about the film industry and doing a bit of networking, or just love films then pencil it in for an event to not miss!
This year is the 55th edition of the festival and is expected to have over 130,000 visitors. The number of visitors is finally increasing back to the full strength that it was pre-pandemic. Movies at this festival fall into the theme of October/Halloween with most movies being horror. So beware..the films at the festival tend to lean more towards horror films!
Online you can find more information on the line-up, films that are going to be shown, rules and regulations, sponsors, contact information, and so much more to help you learn as much as you need before attending the film festival. If you are a filmmaker looking to apply, you have unfortunately already missed the deadline to apply, but you can still come and enjoy the festival! Some previous awards that filmmakers have won include Gorilla, Grand Audience Award, José Luis Guarner Award, Citizen Kane for best debut feature award, Noves Visions Award, Grand Honorary Award – Sitges Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya, Màquina del Temps, Nosferatu, Focus Àsia, Méliès d’Argent Award, Anima’t Award, Secció Oficial Fantàstic Panorama Award, Brigadoon – Paul Nasch Award, Carnet Jove Award, and the Blood Window Award.
The best way to arrive would be to drive yourself, call a taxi, or ride the train. Parking is available where it can be found around the location of the festival. There are no rules on any mask requirements, but if you feel more comfortable wearing one, then by all means you can. See you there!
