Punk MACBA is a contemporary punk art exposition taking place at the famous MACBA (Museum of Contemporary Art Barcelona). The exposition started on May 13 and finishes on September 25 in the heart of Barcelona.

Punk MACBA will feature over sixty different national and international artists. The exhibition will showcase this distinct artistic genres journey and its undeniable importance in modern culture. There will be a variation of different displays including photographs, videos, documentaries and of course, outstanding paintings.
Held in a stunning venue with fantastic architecture, MACBA is a fitting location for an exhibition with an attitude. Punk MACBA highlights the movements nonconformity and the noise which emerged as it exploded onto popular culture in London and New York between 1976 and 1978. Born out of frustration and dissatisfaction with society and the potential for the future this iconic genre remains incredibly popular today. Its use of colour, controversial imagery and its challenge of the status quo continues to resonate with generation after generation.
Punk MACBA and its traces within contemporary art remain today. The exhibition has been co-produced by centres including CA2M, Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo of the Community of Madrid, ATRIUM and the Basque Centre of Contemporary Art. This exhibition curated by David G.Torres is certain to attract scores of locals and tourists throughout its spring and summer long stay in Barcelona.
MACBA has a permanent collection of around 5,000 works and the building has strong links and references to “Modernism” in Barcelona.
