Get into the Christmas Spirit at La Fira de Santa Llúcia!

La Fira de Santa Llúcia is Barcelona’s oldest and most popular Christmas market. The event takes places in the gothic quarter of the city, in front of the Cathedral. The earliest recorded Christmas market in this area took place in 1786, making 2016 the 230th anniversary of the tradition. La Fira de Santa Llucia – Barcelona’s Christmas market, was originally set up to celebrate the feast day of Santa Llúcia on 13th December, however it has now become a much bigger event which runs over 3 weeks.

The majority of the stalls at La Fira de Santa Llucia – Barcelona’s oldest Christmas market, sell the ‘figuritas de Belén’ which are the figures you can buy to make your own Christmas manger called ‘Pessebres’ in Catalan. The 300 stalls consist of Christmas decorations, art and crafts, homemade gifts and Christmas trees making it the perfect place to spend a day Christmas shopping.

It is open every day from 10.30am-8.30pm, and until 9.30pm at weekends.

If you are looking for accommodation in the Gothic Quarter look at Barcelona-Home website.
