The prestigious University of Barcelona (UB) was founded in 1450, and is know as the oldest and largest university in Barcelona. Each year, the university receives internationals students through the Erasmus program. The UB is also a major centre of research and development in Spain and Europe.
The prices of the matriculation and other academic services that are given in the public Catalan universities are fixed annually by decree of the Autonomous government of Catalonia and are rarely superior to 200 euros. Moreover the fees are very small, around 60 euros.
