Universal Manresa: The City of Sant Ignatius

Saint Ignatius of Loyola is the character who has done the most to bring the city of Manresa to worldwide attention. It was here that he discovered his religious vocation and found the inspiration to write his Spiritual Exercises.

The Ignatius Trail visits a series of places that regard anecdotes, legends, and symbolism in memory of the founder of the Company of Jesus and the former school Col·legi de Sant Ignasi. Many other places such as Capella del Rapte, the well known Pou de la Gallina, and the impressive cave of Saint Ignatius, are included in the trip.

You’ll also visit the new Espai Manresa 1522 Interpretation Centre, housed in the former theater and conservatoire in the plaça Sant Domènec, where you’ll travel back to the late 16th century to find out what Manresa was like when Saint Ignatius was living there.
