Trencadís was wide spread in modern architecture, it is a type of mosaic made with irregular shards of pottery, marble and glas. Antoni Gaudí made the technique a little bit more special by using ceramic and pottery rejects plates and coffee cups, the pieces got their final shape a hammer and pliers so they would fit together perfectly. The examples of Gaudí’s handwork are all visible in the Barcelona landmarks; Park Güell, Casa Batlló, La Pedrera and the Sagrada Familia.
During the experience you will learn how to use the tools, choose the design and colours for your mosaic art work. At the end you will bring home your own mosaic creation.
The duration of the family workshop depends on the type of object that you wish to make. Children between the age of 4-10 will have lot’s of fun making a mosaic of their choice, they will learn how to prepare the materials, choose the colours and create their own design.
