Village of Architecture, Contemporary arts and crafts
Come and visit a “Spanish Village” inside Barcelona, famous for its fusion of architecture, contemporary art, shops and food.
Poble Espanyol is a small area situated in one of Barcelona’s most famous districts, nearby Montjuïc Fountains. Poble Espanyol is a spot that, compared to most parts of Barcelona, is free from traffic; making the atmosphere very pleasant and hustle-free for families.
Built in 1929 for an international exhibition, Poble Espanyol turned out to resemble a lot like a village, with 177 replicas of buildings from different Spanish regions. You will find yourself surrounded by different historical-type of houses such as the Andalusian and Romanesque Monastic architecture.
Other than the surroundings, Poble Espanyol also hosts over 20 crafts workshops that are open everyday of the year so that tourists are able to see craftsmen working on different types of pottery, glass, jewellery and many more!
When it comes to food, you will have the opportunity to discover a huge variety and wealth of Spanish foods in mostly all of the bars and restaurants.
Lastly, whilst you’re in Poble Espanyol, we recommend you to visit the Museu Fran Daurel as it showcases around 300 different contemporary masterpieces done by many iconic artist such as Picasso, Dalì and Mirò.
