The Foundation Hospital Nens
The Foundation Hospital Nens of Barcelona has become one of the pioneers in care, teaching and research in the field of paediatrics. It has the practice of all medical and surgical specialties, including outpatient and surgical services, emergency 24h and one of the best services of orthodontics and dentistry at European level. As a non-profit Foundation, the centre works with most health insurance entities to respond to a quality service in paediatric care. They use the latest technological advances in all areas.
This hospital was first found with the goal to create a small clinic to help children with malnutrition. In just four years, the project grew so much that in May 1890 Poor Children’s Hospital of Barcelona, the first centre of its kind opened in Catalonia and the second in Spain was created. Thus began a long history of charity and, especially helping children and the needy. From day one, the Hospital specialized in solving nutritional disorders of infants, especially in those cases where there was a lack of breast milk.
