When to call the general emergency line?
Hopefully you will never find yourself in the type of situation in which you need to call an emergency line, but it is always good to know what to do, just in case. When someone’s life is in immediate danger or if you witness a crime or burglary/theft, dial 112. Calling this emergency line will always be free and can potentially save a life.
How does it work?
After you dial 112, you will first speak with an operator who will listen to the description of your situation and decide which emergency service you will need (i.e.: the police, fire department or an ambulance). Your call will then be connected to the appropriate service center. After you tell them what has happened and specify your location, they will arrive on site as soon as possible (usually within minutes).
