On November 26th, 2016 English rock band The Cure will be performing live at the Palau Sant Jordi of Barcelona.
The Cure in Concert
The band got formed in Crawley, since then they have experienced line-up changes but vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Robert Smith has been the only constant member. They made their public debut in 1973 during a one-off performance. In May 1979 The Cure released their debut album: Three Imaginary boys, but they were rather unhappy with the album and got the feeling that they were missing an identity.
After a lack of creativity on the first album, Smith exerted a greater control on their seconde album called Seventeen Seconds, and with success. The single A Forest, from the album, reached number 31 on the singles chart, which made it their first UK hit single. The Cure has known many ups and down, new band member but last year they announced would go on tour which will include cities they have never been performing before.
As mentioned before, the concert will take place in Palau Sant Jordi. This perfectly designed venue was originally constructed for the Olympic Games of 1992. It can accommodate up to 17,960 people for concerts. Through the years many people have entered the doors of The Palau, and many international performance have been on stage; Coldplay, Shakira, Rihanna, Elton John and Bruce Springsteen.
If you are seeking for accommodation near the concert, we recommend you to have a look at our Apartments in Sants-Montjuïc.
