SIL (“Salón Internacional de la Logística y de la Manutención,” or in English: “International Logistics and Material Handling Exhibition”) is an annual professional exhibition, which is to be held in Barcelona between the 7th and 9th of June. SIL Barcelona 2016 will be the 18th edition of the SIL, hence its new slogan: “18 years in the Logistics service,” which emphasizes the leadership of the International Logistics and Material Handling Exhibition, 45% of whose attendees last year were international companies.
The exhibition is split into three main sectors:
- Transport & Logistics Systems, Infrastructures & Real Estate, representing around 42% of the exhibition.
- Telematics, e-business, Telecommunications and IT Solutions, representing around 32% of the exhibition.
- Warehousing, Equipment and Material Handling, an estimated 26% of the exhibition.
IS is an exhibition at which networking, making professional contacts and sharing knowledge are more important than ever before in the logistics sector. Within the framework of SIL, the greatest international logistics congress of Europe, 20 different conferences will be taking place, involving 227 speakers and more than 3,600 attendees. SIL has always been the meeting point of the entire supply chain and has become a commercial bridge between Southern Europe, the Mediterranean and Latin America.
SIL will also attend another congress related to Logistics and Materials handling, one called ALACAT. ALACAT is the Federation of National Associations of Freight Forwarders and International Logistics Operators in Latin America and the Caribbean. This is the largest congress of the sector celebrated in Latin America, which will be held in Barcelona this year. In 2016, SIL will not only be the meeting point for exchanging ideas and knowledge between Mediterranean and Latin American logistics but the ideal place for B2B (business to business) meetings.
