Live outdoor music and a sense of freedom fills the Jardins del Palau Reial of the exclusive Pedralbes neighborhood each year for the Festival Jardins de Pedralbes, an event that brings together talented artists from all over the world. The stage is set in one of the most beautiful gardens of the city, a wonderful place in which to have a jog in the morning, walk with your lover or relax with a picnic and your favorite book.
The garden
This wonderful green area, located just a few minutes from the city center serves as one of the lungs of Barcelona. It is one of the prettiest gardens that you will find in the city. The place is planted with laurel, orange, and lime trees, which create a relaxing, dreamy and not to mention fragrant venue for all visitors.
The garden also features an emblematic building, the Pedralbes Royal Palace surrounded by palm trees. In front of the palace there is a spacious semicircular square with a stand adorned with busts sculpted from white marble. The palace has a long history: it was once the residence of the royal Spanish family during their visits to Barcelona. While there, you will also easily recognize some works of Gaudí, including the parabolic pergola covered with climbing plants and, in a small corner, the Hercules fountain with a forged iron water spout carved into the shape of a dragon head.
Festival Jardins de Pedralbes
The Festival Jardins de Pedralbes 2016 will be held between the 11th and 16th of July, and will welcome international performers known all over the world. These include the incredible French singer Charles Aznavour, who will be performing on the 25th of June, and Tom Jones who will be playing on the 29th June. There will be a total of twenty-two artists present in the most elegant and natural concert hall of Barcelona.
An auditorium will be built just for the festival in order to allow more people to be able to enjoy the show. The structure will be situated in front of the Pedralbes Royal Palace, and have a capacity of over 2000 people.
And, of course, no festival is complete without some delectable food. Nandu Jubany, the event chef, will be preparing delicious Catalan classics, using products of the region. The menu represents a mix of traditional and popular Catalan recipes.
