Spanish singer-songwriters and musician Alejandro Sanz will be performing in Palau Sant Jordi, Barcelona. Sanz is known for his flamenco-influenced ballads, but always tried to be refreshing music and experimented with rock, funk, electronic, jazz and many genres from the latin music.

Sanz grew up in a neighborhood in eastern Madrid. He was always on the street and kept out of trouble by playing guitar and singing. He got inspired by his father, a professional guitar player, to learn play the instrument. Alejandro’s intention was to become a flamenco performer, but he found the music teachers overly strict and felt like he could not compete with his peers, from this moment on he focused on creating pop music with flamenco influences.

At age of 19 Sanz released his debut album but he did not get a commercial succes until his second release, Viviendo Deprisa. In 1997 his album, Más, came out and gave him international success. After his success only went upwards and in 2002 het became the first Spanish artists to record an MTV Unplugged album. In collaboration with Shakira they made a single called “La Tortura” and it reached number one worldwide.

The concert will be taking place in Palau Sant Jordi, a venue designed by the Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, originally for the 1992 Olympic Games. The Palau is widely seen as an architecture jewel with a spectacular design. The venue can hold up to 17,960 people for concerts. Through the years many people have entered the doors of The Palau, and many international performers have already entered the stage; Coldplay, Shakira, Bruce Springsteen, Rihanna and Elton John.
