Formula 1 (also known as F1) is the highest class single-seat racing that is sanctioned by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile). The FIA Formula One World Championship is considered worldwide to be the premier of all races. The name “Formula” refers to a set of rules to which all participants must conform. Formula 1 Circuit Catalunya is a good event for anyone interested in motorsports.
The circuit
The Formula 1 Circuit Catalunya is known as an “all-rounder circuit” with long straight paths and a variety of corners. In total there are 16 turns included in the circuit. Turn 1 is the main overtaking point, since it is a braking zone of a long, straight DRS (Drag reduction system).
Several memorable moments have taken place on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. In 1991 Ayrton Senna and Nigel Mansell went down side-by-sideon the straight front while they were dueling for second place. In 1996 Michael Schumacher accomplished his first win as a driver of a Ferrari.

The circuit has a total area of 115 ha, a total track area of 79,5 ha and a length of 4,727 meters.
Visitor information:
- Car parks will open at 7.00hrs on Saturday and at 6.30hrs on Sunday. They are closed at night and it is prohibited to leave your car overnight.
- Accreditation center opens at 8.00hrs on Thursday and at 7.00hrs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Giant screens will be placed strategically in different spots of the Circuit, allowing you to follow the race without missing any details.
- Alcoholic beverages are prohibited inside the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Soft drinks and alcohol-free beer will be available for sale inside the facilities.
- The Circuit has adapted facilities for disabled persons using a wheelchair. Disabled persons can access the main grandstand and grandstand G with a general admittance ticket. Any individual there to accompany the disabled person must buy the respective ticket for the same grandstand.
