L'Escala (Castilian Spanish: La Escala) is a municipality in the area of Alt Empordà in Girona, Catalonia. It is situated on the Costa Brava, between the southern end of the Gulf of Roses and Cala Montgó. It is an important fishing port and popular tourist centre with several festival dedicated to its famous anchovies.
