Barcelona Running Routes

We are lucky to say that Barcelona is such an amazing city full of running routes. If you decide to step out into the streets, parks, or beaches in Barcelona you will find yourself surrounded by many runners. This is also a great way to get to know the city! In this blog we provide a list of running routes in and out of the city. Let us know in the comments below which one was your favourite or if you have any routes that you think we should try!

Barcelona running routes to know the City

#1 Avenida Diagonal

Are you looking forward to knowing more about the city while exercising? This is the perfect route for you! The AVENIDA DIAGONAL in Barcelona is one of the most urban and famous streets. It is 11km long making it the longest street in Barcelona. Perfect for runners! Running along this street is the best choice if you want to see the beautiful architecture and monuments in Barcelona.

#2 Parc de la Ciutadella

Do you prefer to run in an oasis of nature but without going far from the city? Definitely go to PARC DE LA CIUTADELLA!  18 hectares of gardens, fountains and perfect running paths. Please note it can get quite busy here on a sunny day. We recommend you go in the morning or evening to avoid the crowds.

#3 Parc Güell

Running with incredible views of Barcelona? This is your place. Park Güell is situated in the one of the highest parts of the city, which provides wonderful views of the city.  Furthermore, you will be able to experience some of Gaudi’s amazing mosaics and architecture.  You can’t find anywhere better for running than in Park Güell. Views+modernism+gardens.

Barcelona running routes near the Beach

#1 Passeig Marítim

Running adjacent to the MEDITERRANEAN SEA is a runner’s dream. In Barcelona, there is the Passeig Marítim, perfect for running by the sea. Thus is the best way to disconnect from the world and enjoy the sea breeze. If you’re looking for some inspiration for a long run, watch the video below!

Avoiding the hustle and bustle of the city

Do you prefer running outside the city with fresh air and all surrounded by nature? Continue reading, because Barcelona also offers this!

#1 Montjuïc

This is one of the most popular places to go running in Barcelona! Montjuïc is just the most beautiful place in Barcelona. A great place if you’re looking to avoid the business of the city and not have traffic lights disrupt your run! On top of Montjuïc you can run through the Olympic park from the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Additionally, there is a castle and amazing views over Barcelona, the harbour and the sea. Enjoy the mountains just next to the city and immerse yourself in sporting spirit (because you won’t be the only runner there!). This is the perfect place to connect with nature, plus it also has one of the best views of the city and the sea. Beware it is very hilly!

#2 Carretera de les Aigües

Do you recall Parc Tibidabo? Take advantage of the mountains surrounding Barcelona and run along the numerous paths (perfect for running) with amazing views and 2 km away from Tibidabo. On this route, you will find yourself more isolated from the city, perfect if you are looking to escape the city.
