What to see in La Costa Brava?

#1 Iglesia de Sant Romà

Built in Catalan Gothic style, between 1509 and 1522, it had fortification features, for example, a raising door, and it originally had a single nave. Later, during the rest of the 16th century and throughout the 17th century, other rooms have been built such as side chapels. Built in a transitional GOTHIC-RENAISSANCE STYLE, it consisted of a single nave surrounded by several fortifying elements such as a drawbridge.

This legacy of modernist art is a must to see on a walk through the center of Lloret and one of the most representative buildings in the city. The church was built in the Catalan Gothic style and has elements of fortification.

The two side chapels, the Baptistery and the Blessed Sacrament were designed by Bonaventura Conill i Montobbio in 1916. In terms of modern art, the stone image of the Virgin of Loreto and the wooden sculpture of the Holy Christ, by sculptor Monjo, stand out.

The parish celebrates the festivities of Sant Antoni Abad on January 17, with the popular blessing of the horses, the Good Friday procession, and the Corpus Christi festival.

The path is about 8 kilometers long and passes by an old fishermen’s houses (pesqueres), the park of La Draga, and birdwatching stations. A short detour also allows you to see the Romanesque church of Santa Maria de Porqueres to the southwest of the lake. Although it dates back to the 11th century, its preservation is impressive.
