Top 5 Hidden Restaurants in Barcelona

We all know the Arc de Triomf, Las Ramblas and Parc Güell, but sometimes the best places are the ones that no one really knows about, and there are so many hidden gems in the city that are very secret. We already gave you our selection of the Best Hidden Speakeasy Bars in the city, but this time we are going to show you our top 5 hidden restaurants in Barcelona!

Chi-Ton Souvenirs

You’re probably thinking this just looks like a souvenir shop, but looks can be deceiving because this is in fact NOT your average souvenir shop. From the outside, this small shop does not give you any hints, except that it is open till very late in the evening. At the back of this shop, you will find the elevator that gives you access to one of the trendiest restaurants in Barcelona. The restaurant offers a splendid selection of cocktails and you can see how the dishes are prepared in front of your eyes.

Address: Carrer de Provença, 300, 08008 Barcelona

Passadís del Pep

This is one of the best restaurants in Barcelona when it comes to fish and tapas. There is no indication at the door that there is a restaurant behind it, besides the house number at the top of the door which leads to a dark corridor. Walk to the end of the corridor if you dare and open the door. You will be surprised by a large and cosy restaurant. There is no menu to choose from, the food is just served to you directly, giving you the chance to discover new foods that you may not have chosen yourself!

Address: Pla de Palau, 2, 08003 Barcelona
Opening hours: Mon – Sat open from 1:30pm – 3:30pm & 8:15pm – 11:30pm; Closed on Sunday.

La Cova Fumada

This is a very famous tapas restaurant located in the Barceloneta area. Again, there is no indication at the door and no house number. When you finally have found the right door and enter this busy tapas bar, it’s time to fill yourself up with all the delicious dishes they offer. From crispy calamari to tasty patatas bravas, they offer all of the tapas choices you could ask for!

Address: Carrer del Baluart, 56, 08003 Barcelona
Opening hours: Saturday open from 9 am – 1 pm; Mon – Fri open from 9 am – 3:15 pm (+ 6 – 8:10 pm on Thu and Fri)

Speakeasy

Speakeasy is a chic restaurant that first opened in 2002 in the Dry Martini department store. It is a place where mystery and anonymity equal luxury. You need a password to get in, so you’ll have to get along with some locals or with the staff to make sure you get a way in. The food is classic, modern and very tasty.

Address: Carrer d’Aribau, 162, 08036 Barcelona
Opening hours: Mon-Sat open from 8 pm – 11 pm (11:30 pm on Sat, Mon & Tue); Closed on Sunday.

Hare Krishna Vegetarian Restaurant

It may sound a bit strange, but in the main temple of the Hare Krishna community, in an alley near La Rambla, there is a secret vegetarian restaurant. You need to know the floor number and ring the intercom so someone can open the door for you. Are you too early and is there a prayer? Then it will not be opened. The food is delicious and inexpensive, and perfect for the vegetarians among us!

Address: Plaza Real, 12, Entlo.2, 08002 Barcelona
