Beaches with facilities for families
In Salou there are two main beaches great for families due to their easy access and variety of facilities:
The first is Ponent beach. With its fine golden sand, and calm waters it is, in fact, the perfect spot for families. Children can easily play in the sea without parents having to worry too much about their safety. On the beach you will find many facilities and activities for everyone. For children you will find a kids area with swings, toboggan… For older children and adults, services include paddle boat, jet-ski and other waters sports equipment rental. If you get hungry there are also plenty of restaurants, bars and cafés, not to mention wonderful ice-cream booths and soft drinks vendors all along the beach. Everything you need to really enjoy the wonderful holiday vibes of Salou! The beach also features a relatively cheap parking lot, which costs only 2€ for the afternoon.
The second family-friendly beach is Llevan beach. This one comes right after Ponent beach, just past the harbor. Llevan is quite similar to Ponent beach, although Llevan could perhaps be more attractive for sportier types because of the fitness club and volleyball courts to be found here. It’s the ideal place for friends looking to spend a great time being active under the sun on the the Costa Dorada. At Llevan beach you will also find showers and toilets, and a kids area exclusively for children. The beach also has several cafes, bars and restaurants. The parking can be found just near the harbor. If you are planning to spend an entire day at the beach, we recommend organizing a picnic in the green area just behind the path to the beach. This is a favorite spot for many, especially locals, one where you can relax in the shade of palm trees on a hot summer day.
Seeking freedom and nature?
If you wish to get away from the noisy, busy city center and enjoy some of the natural beauty of the city´s surroundings, we recommend getting yourself to the Southern cape of Salou, where you will find many natural coves and spectaculars landscapes. Fewer people come out to these places, so they tend to be a bit more peaceful and less crowded. Some of the smaller coves of the Southern cape feature restaurants and deck chair rental. Out of all of them our favorite is Cala Font Crancs, a stunning cove only 5,5 kilometer from the city center of Salou. It’s the perfect spot for a day-trip from Salou, from Barcelona or from Sitges! So don´t forget your favorite book, your sunglasses, your towel and your suncream. And get ready for a weekend of rest and relaxation under the Mediterranean sunshine!
