Wok & Bao
Wok & Bao is a great place to go if you want some Asian food. Here you can create your own personalised wok. And don’t worry if you don’t speak any Spanish, because you can just fill out a form with options in English. If you do have any questions the staff is very friendly and will help you immediately. You can find Wok & Bao in one the cute little side street of the Ramblas, so in the hart of Barcelona. The restaurant is very modern and there is a chill atmosphere. It isn’t the biggest place so if you are with a large group it is a good idea to go before or after the rush hour. If this doesn’t match with your schedule then just take the food with you and find a cool spot to enjoy your food. And if you don’t want to the restaurant at all, you can even order online.
Create your own wok
If you are a difficult eater, just like me, this place is great. Because they let you create your wok from scratch. First start with the base of a wok dice. They offer egg noodles, integral noodles, rice noodles, udon noodles, white rice, and integral rice. After this you get to add meat, fish and vegetables. For meat you get to chose between chicken, veal, pork, and bacon. If you are more a fish eater you don’t get much choice. Because you can only add prawns. For the vegetables they have a lot of options: red pepper, pak choy, pineapple, fresh spinach, tofu, broccoli, shitake, wakame seaweed, beansprouts, and mushrooms. After this you can add some toppings, like crispy fried onion, fresh coriander, peanuts, fresh ginger, jalapeños, and fresh ginger. When you are set on all your ingredients you just need to make one more choice. The sauce, you get to chose from sweet soy, soy and chilli, sweet and spicy, basil, ginger and lemon, and red curry and coriander. Chose a drink to go with your personalised wok and hand in the form to the staff. Now just sit back and wait for your food and enjoy.
Wok & Bao also offers Bao, ramen and bites. And believe me when I say try one of their Bao’s. A Bao is a pork belly bun with different ingredients inside. The classic Bao is a pork belly bun with Hoisin sausage. Not a big meat fan? Not a problem they also have options with fish and even vegetarian options. Regular and spicy soy beans, Japanese crackers and Korean Kimchi are the options for an extra bite.
I sincerely hope that I convinced you enough to go and try out Wok & Bao. If not go and check out our lists of other great Asian restaurants in Barcelona. One more tip, bring your student card to Wok & Bao for a discount!
