Runner Bean Tours
Following a guide around to get acquainted with your surroundings is usually the best way to explore a city you’ve never been before. Runner Bean Tours organises some of these tours that guide you around Barcelona. They started in 2010 with a couple of free and paid tours. Nowadays they’ve grown to a team with officially licensed guides who have experience in guiding tourists around in Barcelona. They still offer their free tours however these are donation-based. This means that at the end of the tour you pay and decide what you think the tour was worth.
They have 4 tours, the 2 free ones are the Gothic Quarter Walking Tour and the Gaudi Tour. In the Gothic Quarter you’ll be discovering the medieval buildings with a mix from imposing cathedrals to town squares that bring people together. During the Gaudi tour, you’ll be visiting the buildings he designed like Casa Mila and Casa Batllo. But also the palace he created in the middle of Barcelona and off course the Sagrada Familia can’t be forgotten in the Gaudi Tour.
The paid ones are 16 euros which is a nice deal. These tours are the Dark Past Night Tour and the Kids & Family Walking Tour. The Dark Past Night Tour takes place in the dark. This way they create a perfect ambience and vibe to tell some medieval stories. Because it is at night, you’ll see the city in a different way and get to know it’s darker secrets. They also offer some lighter and child-friendly tours, this one takes you to the city’s highlights and must-see’s.
Their tours are wheelchair-friendly, so everyone can come along. All of their tours can also be booked for a private audience all-year round. In this case, it’s best to contact them personally to get a pricing and set a date.
