A man drove through a crowd in the popular La Rambla promenade in Barcelona yesterday. 13 people are killed and 100 injured in this terror attack.
Another terrorist attack in Europe happened on famous promenade in Barcelona. A white van driven by a man killed 13 walking people in La Rambla. It’s Barcelona’s one of the most popular touristic places. The driver fled after mowing down his victims, and witnesses said he did not appear to be armed. Because the terrorist attack unfolded, people took shelter in nearby bars, barricading themselves against the terror.
The first suspect was Driss Oukabir, a resident of a town which lies about 60 miles north of Barcelona. As the Catalan police say, Morrocan origin man came to the police station and said his ID was stolen. He told the policeman that his younger brother Moussa probably took it. Later they found it in the van.
Spanish Prime Minister – Mariano Rajoy organized a conference late Thursday. He described the attack as “jihadi terrorism”. The perpetrators’ motive is still unclear, but the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) claims the responsibility for the attack.
Moreover, seven people, including a police officer, were injured in the vehicle attack in Cambrils near Barcelona – hours after van driver left 13 people dead and more than 100 wounded. Five terrorists wearing fake suicide belts have been shot dead by police after ramming civilians with a car in a Spanish seaside town in a second attack to hit the country.
