Barcelona is going to host one of the biggest art fairs this September!
Swab Barcelona is an international art fair that brings together projects, collector programs, and galleries from all around the world to showcase young, emerging talent in contemporary art. Therefore, it is a place to discover the most innovative artistic proposals and meet the local and international artists from all disciplines. This year’s edition of Swab Barcelona is going to take place from the 26th until the 29th of September in the Pabellón Italiano in Fira Barcelona. This happens to be the biggest space to host an event right in the heart of Barcelona, exactly in front of Font Màgica de Montjuïc and next to Plaza Espanya, where you find a good hotel to stay as close as possible. Swab Barcelona has a ten-year history. The famous art fair was founded in 2006 by a Barcelona local and art collector Joaquín Díez-Cascón. He remains true to his initial goal of making contemporary art accessible to the general public. Swab supports young artists, galleries, and curators looking to break into the art market. In addition, it showcases over 60 international art galleries from 22 countries with works by over 200 emerging artists.

Firstly, Swab Thinks, a space for open dialogue and discussion that brings together artists, curators, collectors, and art managers. The main aim is to have debates about transformations in contemporary society. Secondly, Swab Barcelona introduces a space dedicated to art professionals and the general public interested in art collecting. They will have an opportunity to address topics related to the legal and tax aspects of the art business. Finally, another interesting activity worth mentioning is Network, globalization and the search of an identity. As every year, there’s going to be Swab Picnic. In fact, their gastronomy is synonymous to innovation and art. Therefore, visitors will be able to try local fresh food and creative cocktails from innovative young entrepreneurs. Also, Swab Barcelona is completely family-friendly with its space dedicated to the little ones: Swab Kids. This special project aims to stimulate the creativity and imagination of children. Boys and girls from 4 to 12 years old will be welcomed to this activity that will make them explore their artistic side.The youngest art lovers will love it!

Make sure to purchase tickets in advance to not miss this event! There are two main types of tickets you can buy: Swab day valid for one day of the fair only, and Swab Pass valid for all three days of the event. Besides, there is a reduced entrance fee for students as well as for retirees, and disabled. Children aged under 14 years old can enter for free.
