Nadal, or as we say in English: Christmas Day. In December, there are lots of fun activities and things to do while you’re looking forward to Christmas. But if you’re not sure on what to do on Christmas day, make sure you keep on reading. Barcelona and Spain in general are rather religious, so you’ll be able to enjoy the festivities in a special way. The focus really lies on enjoying time with your family, so make sure you have some family and friends to spend time with.
One of the main activities during these holidays is to enjoy a large family meal and stuff yourself full with sweet desserts. If you’re not into cooking or want to enjoy that holiday and not spend it behind your stove, then it’s good to know that many restaurants will be open. Most of them will have a special menu for the holidays which will be a little bit more expensive than usual. It’s best to make reservations in time, because the tables will fill up rather quick. If you’re staying home however, there is a special treat that the Spanish people always serve on Christmas. They just call it Christmas Soup, and you’ll be able to buy it in certain shops if you want to celebrate in a Spanish way.
If you haven’t bought presents yet or need to buy groceries for the meals, make sure to buy them before the 25th of December, or even before the 24th. Shops will probably close the 24th for half a day in the afternoon, and almost none will be open on the 25th. The 26th is also a holiday, so some restaurants may be open, but the shops will be closed as well.
