The Zoo

The Barcelona Zoo is situated in the green heart of the historical center of Barcelona, located in Parc de la Ciutadella. This location was preferred because of its buildings that were empty after the Universal Exhibition (1888). The Zoo facilities reproduce the natural habitat of animal species living in it. It was opened on the day of the Merce.
The Zoo is an amazing place to visit with children and families, since it offers many activities for the little ones among us. Children will have the opportunity to both have fun and learn new things at the Barcelona Zoo. Birthday parties where the dolphins will wish you a happy birthday can be arranged,  Adventure Saturdays where children will be educated about the animals and their history in a fun way are also optional, and Adventure Sundays where the entire family can join are very popular as well!

This welcomes over 4,000 animals belonging to over 400 species, descendents of tropical birds, reptile, snowflake, dolphins, and cats. The zoo also facilitates wide variety of family day out, such as restaurants, picnic areas, bars, ponies, train ride, electric car.

The major highlight of the zoo is the dolphins so don’t miss out the dolphin show which is taken place daily at 11:30am, 01:30pm and 04:30pm!

Also you will be thrilled to know that Barcelona Zoo has one of the largest collections of animals in Europe, from 1966 until 2003 Zoo star was known to be the famous Snowflake, the only known albino gorilla. The children can gain some insight into this and learn exciting knowledge by visiting the zoo.

If your staying anywhere in the center of Barcelona or near Parc de la Ciutadella, do take this chance to take your children to the zoo and make the most of their day-trip.  You can purchase your tickets online.

You will find that at the Zoo each animal has its own set place and conditioning to feel at home. These are some of the interesting natural amenities that you can enjoy when you visit the zoo.

The ESLA farm also known as the children’s Zoo is one of the most exquisite facilities where the farm is home to live goats, pigs, sheep’s, horses, donkeys, ponies etc. This break allows the children to distinguish and be in contact with the farm animals and the domestic animals, but don’t worry all this is done under the supervision of an employee where the children can take a walk with the pony or even stroke a rabbit and enter the stable for sheep’s and goats and much more.
