Update: What is happening in Barcelona?

We thought maybe it’s a good idea to give you an update about what is happening in Barcelona. Not only are we going to mention Barcelona in this article but also the rest of the world. We all know about the serious situation that is going on right now, the news is full of it. We are receiving bad news everyday, sometimes even more than once. With this article we are not undermining the seriousness of the situation. But we just want to spread some love and positivity during these hard times.

Taking a breather

Barcelona is taking a breather at the moment. It is time to heal from all of the people that have visited in the past and get ready for some new people. You can see pollution going down all over the world. It started in China, but right now it can also be seen in other parts of the world, as well as in Spain. This is of course good for the environment, and also for us. The air we are breathing is getting cleaner by the minute. The animals that left the city because it was getting too busy, are returning. In Venice you can see dolphins swimming in the canals of the city, and in Santiago you can see a wild puma walking around. In Barcelona the wild pigs are returning, and roaming around the city.

Keeping spirits up

These are hard times for everyone. So it is very important that we keep supporting each other and keep our spirits high. All around the world there are people that can’t stay home because they have to work. And the work they are doing is saving us and the planet right now. The one thing we need to do is support them. How can we do that? By staying safe, healthy and at home! We can also support them by showing our gratitude on social media or going on our balconies and clapping. This is something that is happening all around the world and we think it’s such a good initiative.

Balcony activities

People are clapping on their balconies, but that is not all they are doing. To keep the community feeling united people are doing all sorts of things. Balcony concerts, balcony gym, balcony games and everything you can imagine. All over the world people are making the most of their little outdoor space by coming up with fun activities to share or do alone. A man in France run a fool length marathon on his 23-foot long balcony. It took him 6 hours and 48 minutes to complete. The most popular balcony activity is music. Not only can you still practice what you love, but you can also make someone else’s day a lot brighter.

Support your locals

Because of the lockdown everything needs to be shut down except for supermarkets and pharmacies. So a lot of businesses are going to lose a lot of money. That is why it is a good thing to support your locals. How can you do this? You can still order stuff online, or get food delivered to your house. It is also a good idea to purchase a gift voucher from your favourite shop. If you don’t have a lot of money to spend but still want to support your locals, then think about leaving a review on their social media or other platforms. Also, you can give them a shout-out on your own social media so that other people can get to know them too.

It’s challenge time

When people need to stay inside for a long time they become very creative. So, it’s no surprise that there are a lot of challenges going on at the moment. For instance: the toilet roll challenge, the push-up challenge or various picture challenges on social media. The toilet roll challenge is especially popular under soccer players. The objective is to keep a football in the air as long as possible by using just your legs. At the end of your video you challenge other people to do this challenge as well. There are a lot of challenges circling on social media. For instance to share a baby picture of yourself and then dare other people to do the same. There are also women sharing pictures of other women just to give a shout-out to them and support them in these difficult times.

Tik Tok

Before the virus hit us, Tik Tok was already a very popular app in the United States. But now it is taking over the world, but in a positive way. Tik Tok is a social media app where you can make your own short music videos. You can share these videos with your followers on the Tik Tok app or just on other social media platforms. A regular Tik Tok video is about 3 to 15 seconds. But you can also create a loop of 60 seconds. You can share funny videos, but you can also make videos with an important message. Doctors are using them to spread the message on how to keep healthy, and to keep positive. And celebrities are creating videos with their children to show how they are dealing with the lockdown.
