Why Sarria-Sant Gervasi?

Sarrià-Sant Gervasi was the last independent village to be annexed by Barcelona in 1921. This might explain why Sarria-Sant Gervasi neighbourhood still has this “village feel” to it, with charm and personality that can’t be found anywhere else in the city. As it located higher up the area is host to the best views of apartments in Barcelona. Sarrià-Sant Gervasi has always been one of the most prosperous districts in Barcelona. Its citizens have always been proud to show off their neighbourhood to outsiders. Sarria-Sant Gervasi’s most famous sight is Tibidabo, the highest peak of the Collserola mountains. It is also home to the Tibidabo amusement park, the Sagrat Cor church and the Torre de Collserola television tower; designed by the British architect Sir Norman Foster.

Sights in Sarria-Sant Gervasi

The district of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi is very pretty due to the fact that it has always been home to the affluent classes of Barcelona. This means that many of the buildings and streets are very well maintained. You can also find some examples of the famous modernista architecture here, like in the Bellesguard which was designed by Gaudí.

The biggest sights of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi is the Tibidabo, the highest peak of the Collserola mountains. On the top of the mountain, you will find the Tibidabo amusement park, situated at 512 meters above sea level. You also see the church of Sagrat Cor and the iconic television tower designed by the British architect Sir Norman Foster. From here you can get the most amazing views of Barcelona from one side and of the Collserola plains on the other.


Eating out in Sarria-Sant Gervasi

A great place to eat in Sarria-Sant Gervasi neighbourhood is the “Moroni” restaurant. Here you can get great food at any time of the day; be it breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack in-between. The food is simple but great, mainly Mediterranean and reasonable price.

Drinking & clubbing in Sarria-Sant Gervasi

Sarria-Sant Gervasi neighbourhood has a great selection of bars and clubs, and it’s almost impossible to single something out. If you would like to try a traditional jazz room, then head on over to the La Cova del Drac on the Carrer Vallmajor. Two other great clubs to mention are the Luz de Gaz and the Sala B. The clubs are much alike, the biggest difference being the 10 year age gap with the younger crowd in the Sala B.

Shopping in Sarria-Sant Gervasi neighbourhood

Sarria-Sant Gervasi neighbourhood has plenty of small, charming shops, but it lacks actual shopping streets or malls. If you have a heart for shopping. Then you should take the metro to Sant Andreu and visit the La Maquinista 230 store mega-mall. As it will most definitely be able to satisfy even the biggest shopping urge!
