Poblenou Celebrates Its Individuality in September 2018
The Poblenou annual Festa Major, in its 2018 edition, lasts for 10 days, from the 7th to the 16th of September. As every year, the entities that are part of the neighborhood have been involved to the maximum in organizing the activities.
Poblenou has become the new fashionable area of Barcelona and therefore it has prepared local parties that have nothing to envy to those of Gràcia or Sants. From the 7th till the 16th of September we can enjoy some celebrations with a wide and varied offering: music, dance, shows, activities for all audiences and of course, popular culture. All this marked by a strong feeling of belonging to the neighbourhood, since the local entities are responsible for organizing everything.
Just like the other major festivals in different neighborhoods of Barcelona, the Festa Major del Poblenou takes place during the last days of summer, when the weather is pleasant and the daily temperatures are not too hot.
A large number of greatly diverse events take place among numerous locations of the Poblenou neighbourhood, some of them outdoors (such as in the streets, squares and at the Bogatell beach) and others indoors (such as in Casino L’Aliança del Poblenou and the Can Felipa Civic Center).

Origin and History of Festa Major del Poblenou
The Poblenou Festival, formerly celebrated during the cold month of December, since 1872 it has been held during the first fortnight of September. During the last two decades of the 20th century the organizations that organized and participated in the festivities made a great effort to promote the traditional events and the whole Festa. In spite of the changes the neighborhood underwent, many of them very drastic and recent, especially regarding its appearance, Poblenou is one of the most authentic neighborhoods in Barcelona, which still holds on its spirit and working-class industrial atmosphere.
