A production featuring striking visual effects
The dramatic story of this opera takes place in Seville, Spain and is about Don Giovanni who is trying to seduce Donna Anna but this ends up with him fighting and killing her father, the Commendatore. In the ensuing imbroglio, Don Giovanni makes passes at girls and ees from jealous ancés, aided and abetted by his servant Leporello. In the end the ghost of the Commendatore carries off him off, still resolutely unrepentant.
This opera play offers two top-quality casts with Mariusz Kwiecien ́ and Carlos Álvarez in the title role. Holten’s hi-tech productions presents impracticalbe platforms and stairs and Don Giovanni’s mindset will be highlighted with special effect, projected images and excellent lighting.
You can watch this play from the 19th of June to the 2nd of July at Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona. The Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona’s opera house, is founded on the Rambla in 1847. This theater is a culture and arts centre and also one of the symbols of the city.
