Trains in Barcelona

Another great form of transport which makes it easy to get around in and out of the city are the trains in Barcelona. There are many urban and interurban train connections in Barcelona. These give you easy access to different parts of the city as well as to other major cities in Catalonia and further afield such as Girona, Valencia and Madrid.

Cercanías (Rodalies) are urban and interurban train lines which serve the surrounding areas of Barcelona. You can find more information on timetables and lines on the official website. There are also interurban lines available to Lleida, Sitges, Tarragona and Girona. As you can see there are a huge variety of trains in Barcelona!

There are many long distance trains to cities such as Valencia, Madrid and beyond. The AVE is the high speed train which can take you quickly to Madrid, Malaga, Sevilla and Valencia. Stations serving trains in Barcelona

You have many different choices for train stations so no matter where you are in the city you can always find a station nearby.

El Clot-Aragó (Plaça de Font i Sagué 3): serves regional and Rodalies trains.

Estació de França (Avinguda Marques de Argentera, 6-12): trains to Paris and Madrid.

Sants (Plaça dels Països Catalans): most well connected of the stations and pretty much every train ends up passing through or starting from here.

Passeig de Gracià (Corner of Passeig de Gracià with Carrer d’Aragó): serves regional and urban trains.

Travelling on trains in Barcelona is a very quick and comfortable way to explore outside of the city and at a reasonable price too.
