5 Amazing Pinchos Bars in Barcelona

When walking through the breathtaking streets of Barcelona, you will encounter amazing plazas, museums and incredible buildings. In addition, your will notice many lively but cozy Pinchos Bars around the city. Their fresh aromas will definitely call your attention!

What are “Pinchos”?

Pinchos are small pieces of bread accompanied with some kind of topping. They are usually beautifully arranged and come in small servings. Besides their beauty, pinchos have a delicious flavour. But more importantly, pinchos are originally from the north of Spain!

Pinchos are different than tapas because the bread and other ingredients on a pincho are held together by a small skewer. In fact, skewer means “pincho” in Spain (pinchar: to pierce). At traditional restaurants, you’ll get charged for the total number of skewers on your plate at the end of your meal. Also, pinchos are best when accompanied by beer, wine or Cava.

Even though pinchos are not from the Barcelona region, you can easily find restaurants offering them. However, not all of them provide the best quality of food, friendly atmosphere or high customer service. For this reason, we have created a list of our five most recommended pinchos bars in Barcelona. We hope you will find them useful to enjoy tasty food during your stay in the city!

#1 MAITEA

Our first recommendation is taberna Maitea. This restaurant embraces the Catalan culture while having pinchos for all tastes. Even though it can get crowded during the night, it still has a friendly atmosphere and satisfactory service. Maitea has also received the Certificate of Excellence 2013 by TripAdvisor. For this reason, it is definitely one of the best pinchos bars in Barcelona worth visiting!

The small pub Blai Tonight is one of our favourite places located at the heart of the neighbourhood of Poble Sec. This pub is so popular that guests are willing to enjoy the pinchos while standing. If you want to sit at a table outside, we recommend you to arrive early. We suggest the best time to arrive is from 7 to 8 pm. This is because locals usually arrive between 9 and 11 pm. The best part about Blai Tonight is that all the pinchos cost around 1 euro.
