El Liceu Opera Barcelona

El Liceu Opera in Barcelona Set on Las Ramblas and is the oldest opera house in Barcelona. With a capacity of more than 2000 people, it is one of the largest opera houses in the world. At first you may not realize that it is so great, because you can not look good from the outside. Upon entering, you will only see how a beautiful, tall and graceful building actually is.

The building was originally opened in 1847 and has a long history. El Liceu Opera Barcelona has survived two fires and a bomb attack in 1893. Still, the building remains a popular place and an important cultural symbol.

In 1994 a fire destroyed large parts of the interior of the theater. Fortunately everything beautifully restored, so that it exactly looked like originally. El Liceu was reopened in 1999 and today the building is better known than ever before.

If you want to attend a concert in this beautiful building, you can take a look at the website. They offer many different types of performances, not just opera. There are also ballet performances and concerts, to ensure that there is something fun for every age group. There are also famous operas aimed at children, called ‘Petit Liceau Families.

If you do not have the opportunity to see a performance, please at least have a guided tour through this impressive building. There are guided and non-guided tours of the theater. The guided tours are at 10am in the morning and the unaccompanied are at 11:30, 12:00, 12:30 and 01:00. There is also the opportunity to take a tour backstage, which is perfect for beginning theater students. These tours can be booked for € 12.50.
